Much-loved British entertainer and historian Sir Tony Robinson is touring Australia and New Zealand in 2026, sharing stories and anecdotes from his more than 50 year career.
Robinson will share tales about the many historical documentaries he has been a part of, revealing things such as the gritty reality behind the legend of Alfred the Great, political scheming in medieval courts and what life was like for everyday folk caught between Saxon kings and Viking raiders.
Audiences will also be entertained by behind-the-scenes stories from Robinson’s work on shows including Time Team, Blackadder and The Worst Jobs in History .
The press release staes, “This will be a night of brilliant storytelling, big laughs, and history with a twist—all delivered by a man who always had… a cunning plan.”
An Audience with Tony Robinson begins in Perth at the Regal Theatre on Monday 9 February, continuing with dates at Adelaide’s He Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday 10 February, Hobart’s Federation Concert Hall on Friday 13 February and Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Saturday 14 February, before Robinson heads to New Zealand for two shows at Auckland’s Bruce Manson Centre on Tuesday 17 February and Christchurch’s Isaac Theatre Royal on Wednesday 18 February.
The final four shows take place at Brisbane’s QPAC Concert Hall on Friday 20 February, Canberra’s Playhouse on Monday 23 February, Sydney’s Opera House on Tuesday 24 February and Newcastle’s Civic Theatre on Thursday 26 February.
Pre-sale takes place on Tuesday 11 November at 10am in all states bar Perth and Adelaide, which starts at 12pm. General on-sale begins on Thursday 13 November at 10am in all states besides Perth and Adelaide, which kicks off at 1pm. Full ticketing details are available at fane.com.au.
Sir Tony Robinson’s career spans over five decades, with the well-known thespian getting his start at the age of 13 in the original West End production of Oliver!.
He became famous for playing Baldrick in the BBC television sitcom Blackadder and went on to host Channel 4 archaeology series Time Team, as well as The Worst Jobs in History, Britain’s Ancient Tracks and Tony Robinson’s Wild West.
Robinson’s career also includes writing 16 children’s books and voicing numerous audiobooks, including Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, as well as presenting two Australian TV programs – Tony Robinson Explores Australia and Tony Robinson's Time Walks – which discussed Australian history.
Now in his 70s, Robinson is celebrating his career on the stage on screen with speaking tours and is ready to enthral Aussie crowds with hilarious and touching tales.
