OPEN UP: APRIL EXHIBITIONS

Exhibitions, art fairs and creative ways to spend your summer...

YUCKY

Panteha Abareshi, Sophie Cassar, Makeda Duong, Carolyn Lazard, Sam Petersen, Elizabeth Reed and Finnegan Shannon

Developed by visual artist, writer and performer Sam Petersen, this thought-provoking group exhibition explores life experience through the lens of disabled, chronically ill or neurodivergent artists. ‘Yucky’ encourages audiences – especially able-bodied audiences – to consider the barriers faced by the 18% of our population who are disabled.

Expect: To feel your perspective broaden.

Until May 4 | Adelaide

THE CONOR MERCURY MOVIES! EXHIBITION

Conor Mercury and Miles Dunne

Supported by Renew Adelaide and Adelaide Arcade, exhibition director Conor Mercury challenges the disposable way we consume the art form of the music video. With 35 of Mercury’s clips playing on an endless loop, audiences will be able to explore these surreal, character- driven mini-films just like they would a tangible work of art hanging on a gallery wall.

Expect: To have an absolute ball.

April 12–19 | Shop 151, Adelaide Arcade (upstairs, next door to Two-Bit Villains)

ANOMALOUS

Richard Coburn and Justin Astbury

Blending digital art and theatre with a 10,000 pixel-wide screen, ‘Anomalous’ takes a satirical and self-aware look at the tech-focused world we live in. Presented on a whopping 150 square metres of LED panels, this immersive experience wraps audiences in a never-a-dull-moment film that brings together animation, documentary, visual poetry and more.

Expect: To be blown away by the sheer scale.

Until June 26 | The Light Room Studio, ILA | Tickets
