MOLLY ROCKET – ‘GOD DAMN’

Let’s hope Molly Rocket never lose the sucker punch feel of their songs. Their first for 2024, the concise yet chaotic ‘God Damn’ dropped in early April, a satisfying single to kick off what’s set to be another big year for the angst-tinged outfit.
The two-minute-forty track feels like time travelling back to a period of teenage mayhem, underpinned by a sense of hedonism and a feeling that nothing can touch you. It’s got the same recipe of the punky-pop and rock ‘n’ roll tracks that made bands like blink-182, Green Day and Nirvana famous. But while Molly Rocket might borrow that vibe, they lean into their own odd, unstable and addictive sonic edge that only makes this track increasingly repeatable. It’s hooky and high energy and heaps sharp – nothing in this song shouldn’t exist. Scream along to ‘God Damn’ next time you need a cathartic release.
Sounds like: A party I’d like to remember.

Sounds like: ‘Hit The Lights’ cooler younger brother who drinks Pirate Life and not Prosecco.
Sounds like: Chevelle collaborating with Phil Campbell after a beer and BBQ session.
Sounds like: LCD Soundsystem experimenting with Gang Of Four at an improvised concert.
Sounds like: The resounding jor of an inspiring late night deep-and- meaningful conversation.
