We had a quick chat about the album and the inspiration behind it:

Could you share the inspiration/themes behind your latest album?

It’s an amalgamation of what’s been taking up space in my life lately. [I've been] worried about the planet, praying for peace among man, wanting people to wake up to their individual power, and wanting to spread love  and connection among us all.

As a multifaceted artist who sings, writes, produces and DJs, your music traverses genres from R&B to hip-hop and ’90s broken beat. How does your versatility across different genres and skill sets enhance your creative process?

Well, DJing played a huge part in becoming exposed to new music and different sounds. But being married to a world renowned producer gave me the perfect training ground, too. I spent 10 years jumping on his projects [before going solo], [working on] a plethora of genres, from boogie and funk, to house, hip-hop and broken beat, just to name a few. But underneath it all is a childhood and teenage upbringing entrenched in '90s pop! 

How do you feel your sound has evolved or changed since your last EP release?

With this album, there were no boundaries or expectations from labels or anyone else. It was a true self expression for the first time. I wrote and produced all the ideas from scratch, then got my more talented friends to add their flare at the end. I’m super happy with how it turned out. I can’t wait now to jump into the next project! 

In this new release, what message or emotion do you hope listeners take away from the experience of your music?

Whatever they need to. There's a lot of themes surrounding love and consciousness and the understanding that everything is one. But I’m just a vessel. The vibrations will do whatever they need to do for the listeners and I just have to let it go in a way.

What's the one track you want people to listen to and why?

'See You Shine'. It’s a reminder to the world of how important it is that we take care of our friends, to help each other and give our unconditional love. We all need each other more than we think and if we uplift each other we will uplift the world.
