FEB 20 - THIS WEEK’S FRINGE PICKS
Feeling overwhelmed by the mad month of Fringe? Bamboozled by more than 1400 shows written up in 7-point type beneath a blizzard of icons? Well, fear not! The Note’s reviewers have done a bit of cherry-picking…
ADAM PAGE: STEREO
What: Multiple Fringe Award winning musician Adam Page returns with an aurally lush, musically vibrant show featuring an array of instruments looped live in high fidelity stereo sound.
When: Feb 22-25 | The Lab at ILA | G
Why: Page is offering an aural massage with waves of music. Tim Minchin says ‘there’s no-one like him’, and that’s good enough for us.
IN POUR TASTE: A COMEDY WINE TASTING EXPERIENCE
What: Sweeney Preston and Ethan Cavanagh are two comedians cosplaying as sommeliers and they’re about to leave you in stitches. Joined by a wine expert, the funny pair guide you through five wines and (at least) five jokes.
When: Feb 18-Mar 17 | BankSA Theatre @ Gluttony | R18+
Why: Whether you’re a novice goon guzzler or the wankiest of wine wankers, this side-splitting tasting experience is sure to tickle your palate.
AMOS GILL: GOING DOWN SWINGING
What: Amos Gill is back in Adelaide with his ‘bitingly-funny and boundary-pushing’ five-star show.
When: Feb 16-Mar 17 | The May Wirth @ Gluttony | M15+
Why: Laugh to razor-sharp observations delivered with wit and confidence. Did we mention Amos is from Adelaide?
DM FOR ADDRESS
What: The Lab is shining a spotlight on Adelaide’s rave scene every Saturday night throughout Fringe, creating space for some of the city’s most exciting DJ collectives.
When: Feb 17-Mar 16 | The Lab @ ILA | R18+
Why: If you’re looking for an easy gateway to Adelaide’s underground community, this is it.
B.L.I.P.S
What: Marketed as, ‘A peek through the beautiful lens of bat shit crazy’, this is a compelling internal narrative told through acrobatic theatrics.
When: Feb 23-Mar 10 | The Studio at Holden Street Theatre | M
Why: The human body can do anything if it puts its mind to it. B.L.I.P.S looks like it’ll push both to their limit
