UK ACTRESS JOANNA LUMLEY ANNOUNCES ‘ME & MY TRAVELS’ 2024 AUSTRALIAN TOUR

The Absolutely Fabulous star will enthrall audiences with her hilarious and interesting adventures from her incredible career

Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley is heading to Australia for her first live tour this year.

Touching down in October, the talented actress will perform her ‘Me & My Travels’ show at intimate five venues across the country.

The show is a hilarious and insightful deep dive into Lumley’s incredible 40-year career, with the actress, author, presenter and activist sharing never heard before anecdotes about her on- and off-screen exploits.

Halfway through the show, Lumley will be joined on stage by her good friend and producer Clive Tulloh, who will ask questions submitted by the audience, giving fans the chance to really find out more about the UK icon.

The first show of the tour takes place in Brisbane at QPAC Concert Hall on Wednesday, October 9. Lumley then performs at Hammer Hall in Melbourne (Friday, October 11), the Festival Theatre in Adelaide (Wednesday, October 16) and the Riverside Theatre in Perth (Saturday, October 19) before her final show at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney on Tuesday, October 22.

On announcing Me & My Travels, Joanna said: “The thought of this tour in October, travelling across Australia, has completely taken over my waking hours. It’s utterly thrilling to start planning the stories I can tell, and the rapture (and gratitude, to be fair) with which I shall greet the audiences. Nothing like this has come my way before, and I may have to be dragged off with a hook at the end of each show. Oh people! This is especially for you from me, with masses of love. I think it will be fabulous.”

A constant presence on screens around the world, Joanne Lumley’s career began in the 60s as a model. Despite no formal acting training, she soon found herself on movie sets, with one of her earliest roles playing a Bond girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. More small cameos followed before she received her big break when cast as Purdey in The New Avengers.

Working steadily throughout the 70s and 80s, Lumley has a career resurgence in the 90s when cast as drunk fashion director Patsy Stone in the riotous comedy series Absolutely Fabulous. Starring alongside comedian Jenifer Saunders, the show was a smash hit. It aired for 25 years and included five seasons, four TV specials and a 2016 movie.

Lumley won two BAFTAs for her work on Absolutely Fabulous and has gone on to host over 15 entertaining travel documentaries. She is also an activist and has partnered with many charities and causes that are close to her heart, including human rights organisation Survival International.

This special evening will be a night to remember and one fans of Joanna Lumley won’t want to miss.
