After sell out shows in Melbourne and Syndey, Sister Act: A Divine Musical Comedy is heading to Adelaide in 2025. The hit musical will arrive at the Festival Theatre in March with a cast headlined by Aussie talents Casey Donovan, Genevieve Lemon and Rhonda Burchmore.

Based on the 1992 classic comedy Sister Act, the stage version includes original music written by Tony and eight-time Oscar Award-winner Alan Menken (Aladdin, Enchanted, The Little Mermaid).

Nominated for a whopping five Tony Awards and six Olivier Awards during its original West End and London revival run, Sister Act makes its way to Adelaide after thrilling fans in the West End earlier this year.

The eclectic cast includes Donovovan in the lead as Deloris Van Cartier, the role made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the original film. Disco Diva Van Cartier witnesses a murder and is placed in protective custody in a convent where she helps out the struggling choir and finds her true voice.

The all-star cast also includes Lemon as Mother Superior, Rhonda Burchmore as choir leader Sister Mary Lazarus, Sophie Montague as Sister Mary Robert, Bianca Bruce as Sister Mary Patrick, Raphael Wong as Eddie Souther and James Bryers as Curtis Jackson.

The music for Sister Act is directed by Bill Buckhurst and features choreography by Alistair David, set and costume design by Morgan Large, lighting design by Tim Mitchell and sound design by Tom Marshall. Stephen Brooker provides musical supervision with Cheri and Bill Steinkellner the musical’s book writes. As far as the incredible music goes, it was written by multi-award winner Menken with lyrics by Glenn Slater.

Sister Act is sure to be a massive success once it hits Adelaide, with further details regarding tickets and dates to be revealed in the coming months.
