This is your chance to support Adelaide’s awesome live music scene while watching incredible musicians strut their stuff.
The Adelaide Guitar Festival 2024 kicks off next month, and as part of this year’s program, the much-loved Guitars in Bars returns.
This awesome initiative brings the Adelaide Guitar Festival to local pubs, clubs and bars around Adelaide. Running from Monday, September 16 to Sunday, September 29, there will be a host of free and ticketed events across the two weeks where you can catch some incredible local and international guitar talent.
“Guitars in Bars is a broad celebration of the artists, venues, and audiences that form the vibrant core of our live music scene in Adelaide,” said Adelaide Guitar Festival Artistic Director Slava Grigoryan in a statement. “This event shines a spotlight on the diverse talent and passionate performers who bring music to life in our local bars and venues.”
There’s a stack of amazing venues taking part in Guitars in Bars, with the Grace Emily playing host to Billy Bob’s BBQ Jam every Monday. Head along and munch on tasty BBQ treats while rocking out to Billy Bob Rankine’s band The BBQ Boys. The Gremilys, made up of some of the state’s best jazz performers, will also hold their popular Jazz Jam at the Grace later in the week.
The Trinity Sessions in Goodwood are dishing out the folk, with Scottish-born Aussie singer-songwriter Eric Bogle and English protest singer-songwriter Grace Petrie both locked in to perform.
Local legend Dusty Lee Stephensen will host Dusty Lee’s Blues Jam at Memphis Slims House of Blue with performances from a long list of talented folk, including Kate Ceberano’s guitarist Kathleen Halloran, Sam Brittain & The Bloody Musos and blues rocker Stefan Hauk.
Jazz guitarist James Muller, rock singer William Crighton, jazz vocalist Chelsea Lee, Adelaide locals The Airbenders and Kathleen Halloran with Ollie English will also be making their presence felt at popular Adelaide venues including The Wheaty, Gilbert St Hotel, Queens Theatre, Lion Arts Factory and Hal’s Hall.
