For the first time in a decade, Marlon Williams is touring Australia as a solo at. Previously in Australia last year where he played Splendour in the Grass and Riverboats Festival alongside his backing band The Yarra Benders, this tour will just feature Williams and his guitar.

The New Zealand singer’s ‘An Evening With’ tour was originally meant to take place in 2020 but COVID lockdowns prevented Williams from making the trip across the Tasman. The rescheduled dates for 2021 were also postponed, with this year’s dates finally locked and loaded.

The series of gigs will see Williams play intimate venues around Australia, along with two shows as part of this year’s Open Season in Brisbane.

The tour begins in Syndey on Friday June 7 at City Recital Hall. Williams then heads to Thirroul and plays Anita’s Theatre on Saturday June 8 before playing two shows at the Tivoli for Brisbane’s Open Season on Wednesday June 12 and Thursday June 13. The tour then continues in Hobart, with Williams playing the Odeon Theatre on Saturday June 16 before the singer plays two shows at the Melbourne Recital Centre in the Victorian capital on Thursday June 20 and Friday June 21. This is followed by two shows at the Sound Doctor in Anglesea on Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23, a show at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Tuesday June 25, and a final performance in Adelaide at the Gov on Thursday June 27.

Tickets for Williams’ tour go on sale tomorrow via Oztix.

As well as making up for the previously cancelled tours, the shows will give Australian audiences the chance to hear tracks from Williams’ 2022 album My Boy, including the single ‘Don't Go Back’, which peaked at #11 on the New Zealand Single Charts. Williams will be performing completely solo, with a setlist that includes old songs, newbies and deep album cuts.

Tickets for Williams’ tour go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday March 27 at 9:30 am local time via Oztix.
