Dark Mofo To Return with Full Program in 2025
The Tasmania festival will be back from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 15 2025.

After a scaled-down 2024 event, Tassie’s annual Dark Mofo festival returns with a bang in 2025.
Held across multiple venues in Hobart from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 15 2025, the 11-day festival will see the return of crowd-favourite events such as the Winter Feast, Nude Solstice Swim, the Ogoh-Ogoh and Night Mass.
The midwinter solstice will also feature a jam-packed art and musical lineup that’s been described as an “ambitious art and music program.”
“Dark Mofo is back,” Artistic Director Chris Twite said in a press statement. “For our eleventh chapter once more we’ll bathe the city in red and deliver two weeks of inspiring art, music and ritual. Today we’re giving Dark Mofo devotees a chance to access a limited pre-release of tickets to the sprawling behemoth, Night Mass.”
Although the full program is yet to be unveiled, there are a limited number of Night Mass pre-release tickets available here.
Twite added: “Night Mass is a beast, and this year it will evolve once more; worming its way through the city with new spaces, performances and experiences to dance, explore or crawl your way through.”

Last year Dark Mofo was set to go on hiatus due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the “rising costs and challenging conditions,” but artistic director Chris Twite pulled a swifty at the last minute and announced a scaled-down version of the annual festival.
“I know we said Dark Mofo would stay quiet, but Winter wouldn't feel the same without the chance to feast and frolic during the long Tasmanian nights,” Twite said in a statement confirming the festival’s return in 2024.
Although smaller and with fewer events, last year’s Dark Mofo was a resounding success, with the 2025 event shaping up as a must-attend for culture lovers.
