GREEN ROOM: ENDLESS GROOVES, DREAM BOAT

All aboard! There’s a party on Popeye this Fringe season and it’s calling your name. Event organisers and vibe curators Endless Grooves tell us more...

Dream Boat is back cruising along the River Torrens/ Karrawirra Parri this Fringe. Tell us more about the series...

If you’ve ever wanted to party with your friends on board the Popeye, then this is your chance! For five years, Endless Grooves have commandeered the iconic heritage riverboat to throw a month-long party with some of our favourite DJs soundtracking the event. Both locals and tourists can experience Adelaide from a perspective they can’t get any other way.

There’s an epic lineup playing across Fringe. How did you curate the bill and who are you keen to catch?

We try to program acts from varying artistic styles, but all from within our roots in soulful music. Each party cruise has its own DJ at the helm, bringing a unique flavour to every session. There are three DJs we’re particularly excited about. First up, there’s Patrick Holland (FKA Project Pablo) from Canada [who’s] one of our favourite DJs/producers. He’ll also be performing a very special live show that evening at Ancient World. Then there’s Boogie Monster from Sydney; he has one of the deepest record collections in Australia and will be packing an all-vinyl set for your dancing pleasure. And our final tip is fellow local Nantale, who will be closing out the season; we’ve been working together since day one and she always surprises us with something new.

How does the Dream Boat series help strengthen the underground scene during Fringe?

These parties came about as a response to the dwindling amount of quality, DJ-focused programming across the festival season. They’re a great way to spotlight artists, from up-and-comers to scene veterans, in a low-pressure environment thanks to the intimate setting that the Popeye provides. The Adelaide Fringe audience is also quite diverse and that provides us with an opportunity to introduce underground music to people who wouldn’t necessarily come to our late-night club shows.

What’s next for Endless Grooves?

On Easter Sunday (March 31), we’ve got Gee Dee and Lauren Hansom visiting from New York and Sydney respectively. They’ll join us at Sugar for our monthly party series showcasing some of the finest talent in soulful, underground music. They’ll be joined on support by locals Fantastic Black Plastic and Breaking Even!

Dream Boat cruises the River Torrens/Karrawirra Parri every Friday and Saturday. Head online to see what sessions are available.
