NOCTURNAL ANIMALS

Nocturnal Animals are celebrating their latest single, ‘Panic Attack’. The band tell us about the release and what to expect from their live gig at Lowlife Bar this month

Congratulations on the release of ‘Panic Attack’! It’s a heavy-hitting song – tell us more about it...

We’ve all had personal experiences with anxiety and panic attacks, and this song was created to encapsulate that feeling of when you’re deep in that moment, feeling helpless and out of control. Each section and instrument was written to give an unrelenting feeling of constriction with no relief.

It’s the first time we’ve heard new music from you since your EP in 2022. Is this a sign of more to come?

The new music picks straight up from where our first EP, Paint A Picture, leaves off, carrying on the emotion and themes from ‘Picturesque’, the album’s finale. Moving forward from this, you can expect some emotional, darker, but highly energetic and ferocious tracks.

You’re hosting a gig at Lowlife Bar on December 9 to celebrate the release. For those who haven’t seen a Nocturnal Animals gig, what should they expect?

Singalongs. Drinking. Dancing. Party vibes. Dick jokes...TV Therapy, Pest Control and Draining are joining us as support acts. They all have such strong and unique styles, but we feel that together, we’ll create a unified sound that just makes sense. It’s gonna be a sick night!

We love the skeleton face paint, but what’s the idea behind it and how did it become your signature look?

The skeleton face paint has always been about the stripping away of everything and exposing our innermost feelings and emotions. Nocturnal Animals is about connections and relationships – partners, friends, family. By putting the make-up on, we intend to remove ourselves and let the art speak for itself.

What’s next for Nocturnal Animals?

We travel to Brisbane on December 2 for CRUSHER FEST with The Delta Riggs and Press Club. Then, we have our single launch at Lowlife Bar in Adelaide, on December 9, with one more VERY exciting, currently unannounced December show. Keep up to date by following us...
