ADELAIDE BEER & BBQ FESTIVAL DROP WINTER LINEUP
‘Ale You Need Is Love’ is the motto of this year’s Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival that will bring the Australian Rock Collective, Bad//Dreems, 1000 boozy bevs and the world’s best barbecue to the Adelaide Showground this July.
Your winter just got a whole lot warmer! Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival is back this July 12-14, returning to the Adelaide Showground for a celebration of meat, beats, beer and love.
The annual event is gearing up to be an action-packed weekend, with the largest lineup of barbeque ever assembled at the festival and a massive selection of beer and not-beer sourced from all around the world. And, why there’s no denying that right now is one of the toughest times for the hospo and music industries, Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival is determined to support the businesses and brewers involved in making the yearly celebration a success – a mindset encapsulated in this year’s tagline ‘Ale We Need Is Love’.
"At a time when the festivals, live music, craft beer, and hospitality industries have been hit the hardest, we're passionate about creating an event that brings people together and celebrates the resilience of these great industries,” says ABBF co-director Aaron Sandow. “'Ale We Need Is Love' is more than just a motto; it's a rallying cry for the community to come out and be our best selves together, arm in arm and beer in hand."
Ready to find out the who’s who of this year’s festival?
Music first! This year, The Australian Rock Collective will be headlining ABBF on Friday night, with members from Powderfinger, Spiderbait, You Am I and Jet an electrifying performance of Aussie rock ‘n’ roll. Joining them will be The Southern River Band, Birdman or The Unexpected Virtue of a Tony Hawk Pro Skater Cover Band, The Bures Band and, for the first time in SA, The Neptune Power Federation. Friday night, The Note (that’s us!) will be presenting The Last Resort, too – stay tuned for updates on this!
Bad//Dreems & Friends will be headlining the mainstage – who are these friends? We don’t know yet, but an extra special collaboration is teased to perform. Excited? We are! Especially seeing as the four-piece and their mates will be belting out tracks from The Great South Australian Songbook. They’ll be joined by Floodlights, C.O.F.F.I.N., Watty Thompson & His Total Fire Band, the UNTAPPED Battle Of The Bands live finals, and The Last Resort, curated by General Admission Agency.
Rounding out the weekend, Peter Coombe will be performing with his Newspaper Mama Band for the family-friendly, pooches-welcome Sunday session. There’ll also be a country hoedown at the Secret Pickle Saloon and lots more acts across four live stages. All of the weekend antics will be hosted by your favourite, Henry Wagons.
Beer next! This year, there are over 1000 beers and boozy (and non-boozy) beverages pouring. In collaboration with the Independent Brewers Association of Australia, ABBF will present a curated lineup of 60 brewers – stay tuned for April 23 when the full bill drops! Keen to learn about craft bevs? ABBF’s inaugural Beer Ambassador Ryan Davidson (Little Bang founder) will present some masterclasses on stage with fellow industry heavyweights.
And BBQ! This lineup is equally impressive. First-round favourites include US low ‘n’ slow by Carolina Smoke, Brisket & Brawn, Señor BBQ, Goldieburger and SA’s debut of the Pig Ferris Wheel from QLD’s Flamin’ Grillas. Veggies friends, there’s plenty for you too – check out iconic Californian eatery Mr Charlie’s, who’ll be there all weekend. There are plenty more mouth-watering additions to be revealed in May!
Returning BBQ Ambassador Alana Brabin has curated a diverse lineup of chefs for the ‘World’s On Fire’ activation, showcasing cuisines from around the globe – including Warndu (First Nations), The Levant Project (Jordan/Palestine), The Thai Guy (Thailand) and El Costanco (Sth America).
And, as always, there’s heaps more action happening, with BMX and skating demos, Riot City Wrestling live, pie-eating comps and the famed Beer Bod Wet T-Shirt Competition.
The Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival is happening across the weekend of July 12-14 at Adelaide Showground on Kaurna land. Tickets are available now! Join the fun three days of unforgettable experiences, where beer, BBQ, music, and entertainment come together!
