AUDRA MCDONALD ANNOUNCES 2024 AUSTRALIAN TOUR
The six-time Tony Award winner returns to Australia for the first time in almost a decade.
American actor and singer Audra McDonald is bringing her spectacular voice to Australian theatres this May. McDonald’s concert tour will see the record-breaking winner of six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards and an Emmy Award play five dates across the country.
McDonald will perform in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, where she will sing a variety of classics from the stage.
Best known by pop culture fans for her starring roles in TV series Private Practice and The Good Wife, McDonald is also an accomplished theatre star, having trodden the boards in successful performances of Carousel, Master Class, A Raisin in the Sun, 110 in the Shade and more.
In a statement about her upcoming tour, McDonal had this to say: “I’m delighted to return to Australia, and once again perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House and the wonderful Hamer Hall in Melbourne. This trip marks my first time performing in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, and I can’t wait to get to know the Australian audiences and experience these beautiful cities next May.”
McDonald’s return to Australia comes almost a decade after her last visit when she played shows at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne’s Hamer Hall.
The classical soprano has been working non-stop since last performing in Australia, taking on several high-profile acting roles while also returning to the stage. Her last theatre role was playing Suzanne Alexander in the hit play Ohio State Murders from 2022 to 2023.
