EMINEM ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘THE DEATH OF SLIM SHADY (COUP DE GRACE)
The rapper’s 12th album is set for release later this year.

Guess who’s back? 15 time Grammy Award-winning rapper Eminem is readying the release of his 12th album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). The rapper born Marshall Mathers III posted a video trailer hyping the album.
The trailer debuted on the NFL Network during the 2024 NFL Draft and features a crime reporter discussing the unsolved murder of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady.
“Through his complex and oft-criticized, tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies,” the reporter explains.
50 Cent even pops up in the clip, giving his thoughts on Em: “He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath!”
The true crime reporter adds, “The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady.”
The controversial rapper finally appears at the end of the trailer, revealing, “I knew it was only a matter of time for Slim.”
Besides the title, which appears to confirm the Detroit native finally abandoning his Slim Shady persona, there isn’t much more known about the album. The only other clue about what to expect came from producer Dr. Dre when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this year.
During the chat Dre revealed the album was coming and he was involved. “Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year,” Dre said. “I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire.”
The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) comes four years after Em’s last release, 2020s Music to Be Murdered To. The surprise album hit the top of the Billboard 200, making Em the first artist to achieve ten consecutive number-one albums in the US.
The release of the album may also coincide with Eminem’s return to Australia, with tour rumours doing the rounds for the past six months.
