GROOVIN THE MOO CANCELS ITS 2024 FESTIVAL

Sad news from the Groovin the Moo camp this afternoon. Just weeks after it announced its 2024 lineup, organisers have issued an official statement that this year’s regional roving festival will not take place.
“We are extremely disappointed to announce that the Groovin the Moo 2024 tour has been forced to cancel,” reads the statement. “Ticket sales have not been sufficient to deliver a regional festival of this kind.
“All tickets will be refunded automatically. Thank you to everybody who has supported the festival. We hope to be able to bring Groovin the Moo back to regional communities in the future. There will be no further comments from Groovin the Moo at this stage.”
On January 30, GTM revealed a lineup featuring local and international acts like The Kooks, Alison Wonderland, Jet, GZA (Wu-Tang) and Mura Masa, amongst other smaller Aussie artists, including The Rions, The Grogans and Jacoténe. The roving festival was scheduled to travel to Wayville, Bendigo, Canberra, Newcastle, Bunbury and the Sunshine Coast between late April and early May.
The shock announcement comes as Australia experiences a string of festival cancellations and postponements amid the current cost of living crisis. On January 11, South Australian music festival Vintage Vibes announced it would be postponing its January 27 two-day event, featuring Groove Armada, Rudimental and Milky Chance, citing “increased pressure on supply chains” and “shifts in economic climates” as its reason.
Before that, on January 5, roving Victorian music festival Coastal Jam announced its January 13 event would no longer be going ahead, explaining how the current economic crisis has impacted the small boutique event. The festival was to take place on the Mornington Peninsula with headline acts Lime Cordiale, Austin Millz and Bryce Vine.
