HOCKEY DAD ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM 'REBUILD REPEAT' AND NATIONWIDE TOUR

The surf rock duo hit Adelaide in June

In a much-anticipated announcement, Windang’s own Hockey Dad has revealed that their fourth studio album Rebuilt Repeat is set for release on June 14. The duo, consisting of guitarist and lead vocalist Zach Stephenson and drummer Billy Fleming, has been eagerly awaited by fans since their last album, the chart-topping Brain Candy, dropped in 2020.
The upcoming album features the 2023 triple j Hottest 100 hit ‘Still Have Room’ and their latest single ‘Base Camp’ – tracks that set the tone for the band’s latest musical offering, a sound that showcases their trademark noise while also exploring new creative territories.
Excitement surrounding the album release if further heightened by the announcement that the pair will be heading off on an Australian tour to celebrate the release of Rebuild Repeat. The tour will kick off in Perth on June 21, followed by stops in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. Fan pre-sale for tickets begins Tuesday, February 27 at 10am local time.
Joining Hockey Dad on the east coast shows will be US band Militarie Gun, known for their energetic punk-infused melodies. Additionally, Frankson-based four-piece The Belair Lip Bombs will be appearing at all shows.
“This album for me feels like a fresh rebirth after a muddy, hazy couple of years for us and everyone else in the world,” says Zach Stephenson. “’Rebuild Repeat’ as a title kind of describes the process of making a new record as a band. You only have yourselves as raw materials. You knock down what you had from the past, re-design, rebuild it and repeat. Hopefully you learn some structural integrity tips along your way.”
What began as a pastime during surfless days, Hockey Dad have now been a band for 10 years. On announcing the ‘Rebuild Repeat’ album and Australian tour, Hockey Dad are in the middle of performing 21 headline shows across the USA and Canada. It’s start of a new and exciting era for the band.
“The feeling on stage playing remains the same over all this time,” says Zach, reflecting on how their performances have grown over the years. “It’s just deep trust and brotherhood.”
Don’t miss Hockey Dad and special guests Militarie Gun and The Belair Lip Bombs as they embark on the Rebuild Repeat tour in June 2024.
