RELIQA ANNOUNCE ‘SECRETS OF THE FUTURE TOUR’
The rising metalcore outfit is touring in support of their debut album, Secrets of the Future.
Australia’s metalcore scene continues to produce the goods, with Reliqa the latest act making waves.
The Sydney quartet, comprised of Monique Pym (vocals), Brandon Lloyd (guitar), Miles Knox (bass) and Shannon Griesberg (drums), is readying the release of their sophomore album, Secrets of the Future, which is set to drop on Friday, May 31.
To celebrate the album’s release, Reliqa is heading on tour this June. The band will perform songs from Secrets of the Future live for the first time, along with fan favourites such as ‘Doomed’ and ‘Mr. Magic’.
Support comes from Perth’s 21-year-old singer-songwriter RinRin whose metal-pop creations have helped her grow a solid fanbase.
Kicking off the run of dates in Adelaide at UniBar on Friday, June 14, the band then hits Melbourne’s Bergy Bandroom on Saturday, June 15, Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Thursday, June 20, Sydney’s Bootleggers on Saturday, June 22 and Central Coast’s Drifters Wharf on Sunday, June 23.
Their Adelaide show will also see Reliqa share the stage with progressive metal act Caligula's Horse who be performing tracks from their latest album, Charcoal Grace.
Having signed with local label Greyscale Records and global juggernaut Nuclear Blast, big things are expected from Reliqa’s upcoming release, which is said to be influenced by everything from K-pop and prog rock to rap and J-metal.
“Aesthetic-wise, Secrets of the Future has some soft sci-fi elements to it, especially through the artwork and some of the soundscapes throughout… We say ‘soft’ because it’s not a fictional concept album, but with the album title focusing so much on the future, the vibes are inherently dark, ominous, foreboding, a little bit dystopian at times,” the band said in a statement about the album.
“Our songwriting style shifted in 2023 when we started writing this album, and that change in workflow is another reason why some of the songs on this record are so different to anything we’ve done before, like Cave, Terminal, Crossfire and Two Steps Apart.”
