STORY OF THE YEAR CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY OF DEBUT ALBUM ‘PAGE AVENUE’ WITH AUSTRALIAN TOUR
Senses Fail and Behind Crimson Eyes will be joining Story of the Year on their five-date tour.
American rock act Story of the Year is commemorating the 20th anniversary of their acclaimed debut album Page Avenue with an Australian tour.
The post-hardcore rockers will be playing tracks from their debut album alongside all their biggest hits when they arrive in the country this August as part of their five-date tour. The quartet of vocalist Dan Marsala, guitarist Ryan Phillips, bassist Adam Russell and drummer Josh Wills will be performing tracks from Page Avenue alongside the band’s biggest hits.
Touching down in Perth, the tour kicks off on Sunday, August 4 at Magnet House. The tour then takes in The Gov in Adelaide on Tuesday, August 6, The Forum in Melbourne on Thursday, August 8, the Roundhouse in Sydney on Friday, August 9 and finally The Tivoli in Brisbane on Sunday, August 11.
Joining Story of the Year on tour are fellow American rockers Senses Fail, who will be playing their 2004 album Let It Enfold You in its entirety, and Australian own favourites Behind Crimson Eyes.
One of the many bands to help shape the post-hardcore scene, Story of the Year has been releasing music for close to three decades. Beginning life as 67 North in 1995, the band changed their name to Big Blue Monkey in 1998 before settling on Story of the Year in 2002. A year later they exploded onto the scene with the release of their debut album, Page Avenue. An unexpected hit with the hardcore and alternative metal scene, the record was universally praised and spawned popular singles ‘Until the Day I Die’ and ‘Anthem of Our Dying Day’.
The success of Page Avenue led to Story of the Year landing a spot on the Warped Tour and going on to support the likes of Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, Deftones and The Used.
Now six albums deep into an incredible career, Story of the Year has established themselves as one of the most loved post-hardcore bans on the planet. The band’s loyal Australian fanbase can expect to hear all their favourite cuts from Page Avenue right through to tracks from Story of the Year’s most recent record, 2023s Tear Me To Pieces, when their tour gets underway this August.
Also along for the ride, New Jersey five-piece Senses Fail will take to the stage and perform their certified gold album, Let It Enfold You, in full. Emerging in the early 2000s, the emo meets hardcore group has released eight studio albums over the journey, with Kerrang! having this to say about their most recent effort, 2022s Hell Is Your Head: “This album is purposefully careless, its words are the most potent part of what makes it magical, both outrageous and down to earth. It’s an honest fresh wound, like the raw skin of a grazed knee as Buddy stands to his feet, brushing it off and embracing the fall.”
Last but not least is Melbourne’s Behind Crimson Eyes who get back on the road for the first time in almost a year. Rising to fame in 2006 with the release of their debut album, A Revelation For Despair, the emo rockers have been stalwarts of the Aussie heavy scene.
Early bird pre-sale begins Tuesday, May 7 at 11:30am local time. You can register here. General sale kicks off Thursday, May 9 at 11:30am local time via Destroy All Lines.
