ADELAIDE BEER & BBQ FEST ANNOUNCE MARCH MT GAMBIER EVENT
Since 2015, Adelaide Beer & BBQ Fest has been lighting up our winters with its fiery lineup of beer, BBQ and beats. It’s the largest of its kind in Australia, attracting 20,000 festival goers to the Showground each July.
But now, Beer & BBQ Fest will be spicing up our summer too, with the announcement that the event is expanding and hitting the road for the inaugural South East Beer & BBQ Festival. Taking to Mt Gambier’s Railway Lands in the Limestone Coast this March long weekend, the event promises to bring you the best of the festival in a new sunny setting! Here’s what to expect:
THE MUSIC
It wouldn’t be a Beer & BBQ Fest weekend without a little bit of music! The event’s bill will be split across two days and two stages, with March 9 performances by The Smith Street Band, Bad//Dreems, The Pretty Littles, Blush, LOLA and Sexy as Shit. Then, on March 10, catch headliner Regurgitator alongside Magic Dirt, DEM MOB, Tonix, Street Legal, Mums Favourite and Stokes. The whole shindig will be hosted once again by Double J’s country outlaw, Henry Wagons! Saturday’s event will be an 18+ party while Sunday will be a whole family-friendly affair.
THE BEER
Beer, non-beer and non-alcoholic bevvies will be free flowing across the SEBBF. Expect local favourites Pirate Life, Big Shed and Mismatch, alongside cutting-edge interstate brewers such Bracket Brewing (Sydney) and The Mill and Sure Brewing (Melbourne). Limestone Coast’s finest, including Woolstore, Loophole and Little Rippa, will also be featured. The complete lineup will be revealed in three parts, with a variety of ‘not-beer’ options available as well.
The BBQ
BBQ curator Alana Brabin from the Barossa has collaborated with renowned chef Kirby Shearing to curate a lineup that’ll satisfy ever palate. Tasty talent include Melbourne’s Burn City Smokers, Smokey Uppercuts (Whyalla), Lumberjack’s BBQ (Mt Gambier) and special collaborations between Kirby, Alana and their teams. Filipino BBQ by Sydney’s Hoy Pinoy and Adelaide’s Cheekies Hot Chicken will also be rolling through the two-day event, with more surprises yet to come.
THE FESTIVAL
Beyond the trifecta of meet, beer and music, the inaugural SEBBF will also bring the usual BMX and skating demonstrations, the Southern Steak Showdown & Backyard BBQ Championships, masterclass panel talks with brewers and chefs, a hot dog eating contest, axe throwing, a tattoo parlour, markets, a silent disco and the regional debut of the iconic Beer Bod Wet T-Shirt Competition!
