Adelaide favourites The Beards are back and ready to educate the Australian population on why having a beard is more than just a fashion statement – it’s a lifestyle!

After being announced as part of this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest lineup, the hairy lads have revealed a run of live dates this August and September.

Taking to Instagram to reveal the details, the band commented: “It's official friends: Beards Are Back in 2025 with a special limited run of shows in the four capital cities closest to where we currently reside. Grow your beards, grab your tickets and we'll see you this August & September. On sale April 8th. BEARDS!”

Expect to hear all the band’s classic tunes, including personal favourites ‘No Beard No Good’, ‘You Should Consider Having Sex with a Bearded Man’ and ‘If Your Dad Doesn't Have a Beard You've Got Two Mums’.

The four-date tour begins in Brisbane at The Triffid on Friday, August 29 and continues with shows at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Saturday, August 30 and Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Friday, September 5, before a final hometown gig at Adelaide’s The Gov on Saturday, September 6.

Tickets for all four shows go on sale Tuesday, April 8 at 8:30am local time via thebeards.band.

Coming to life in 2005, The Beards quickly became Aussie legends thanks to their hilarious folk rock songs written about the joys of having a beard.

Comprising bass keytarist and vocalist Tom Bettany (aka Tom Rockchild), drummer Michael Bidstrup (aka Bam Bam Bidstrup), guitarist Joshua Fielder (aka J-Wah!) and keyboardist and vocalist Joel McMillan (aka Late Joel Milkowski or One Hundred Dollars), The Beards released four studio albums – The Beards (2007), Beards, Beards, Beards (2010), Having a Beard is the New Not Having a Beard (2012) and The Beard Album (2014) – before calling it quits in 2016.

Speaking about the tour, The Beards frontman Beardraven says, “We felt that after writing sixty-three original songs about beards and becoming the most important beard-related band on the planet, we’d said all we had to say on the subject. We figured it was time for us to take a well-earned break and focus on resting on our laurels.

“But it turns out that over the intervening years, our views on beards have only become more intense, rigid, and dogmatic. Hopefully, a small run of gigs in the four closest capital cities to where we currently reside will be enough for us to finally fully articulate just how much we enjoy having beards.”

The band’s upcoming tour is the first time The Beards have performed live in almost a decade, with tickets sure to sell like hot cakes.
