THE HARD-ONS ANNOUNCED AS SUPPORT FOR THE DAMNED

The legendary punk act was the only band The Damned wanted.

Fantastic news for those with tickets to see The Damned's final Australian tour this March - Sydney icons The Hard-Ons have been enlisted as the support act. According to the recent press release hyping up the tour, The Damned sent a list of potential support bands to the promoter. That list had only one name on it: Aussie iconis The Hard-Ons!
One of Australia’s greatest punk bands, The Hard-Ons’ career spans almost four decades of memorable moments. Their debut single, 1985’s 'Surfin’ On My Face', went straight to #1 on the Australian alternative charts and was the first of an unprecedented 17 consecutive songs by the band to do so. Other highlights of their incredible career include being just the third Aussie band to crack NME’s Top 5 in the UK and calling Henry Rollins one of their biggest fans, with the former Black Flag singer collaborating with the duo on a blistering cover version of AC/DC’s ‘Let There Be Rock’.
2021 saw The Hard-Ons draft in long-time friend Tim Rogers, the man behind award-winning power-pop act You Am I, as lead vocalist. Their first album together, I’m Sorry Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken (recorded and released the same year Rogers joined the band), scored The Hard-Ons their highest ever char position, hitting the #4 spot on the ARIA charts. They followed this up with 2023’s Ripper 23, a blistering record of punk nuggets that was well recieved by critics and fans alike.
The Damned's swan song comes after almost five decades of entertaining audiences across the world with their unmatched punk energy. For the very first and final time in 35 years, The Damned's classic line-up will be together, with Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies and Paul Gray representing the best of this trailblazing act.
The British quartet will be performing tracks from their seminal albums; Machine Gun Etiquette, The Black Album and Strawberries, as well as fan favourite songs like ‘Neat Neat Neat’, ‘New Rose’ and more.
”It seemed like the right time. We wanted to do this while we are all still upright, breathing and capable of doing it at a high level and challenge ourselves and each other for the fans”, Rat Scabies said about the tour. “We will play the best of Machine Gun Etiquette, The Black Album and Strawberries album and chuck in all the other classics. Paul’s playing great (just did the Professor and the Madmen album thing with him), as is Captain and Dave’s singing great too so it’s going to be amazing to be back”.
Bursting onto the scene at the same time as the Sex Pistols, The Damned were one of the first British punk bands to tour the United States, helping inspire the first wave of west coast hardcore and punk acts. They’ve had a massive impact on the scene and their final shows are not to be missed.
Presented by The Phoenix.au and Metropolis Touring, The Damned and The Hard-Ons play Hindley Street Music Hall Sunday, March 24. Tickets on sale now via Moshtix.
