FRINGE REVIEW: FORBIDDEN
This R-rated burlesque extravaganza is the gateway to your forbidden desires.
Words by Kate Johnson
They say the world was built for two, so Forbidden must be the couple’s pre-party if you know what I mean. This R-rated burlesque extravaganza was the gateway to your forbidden desires. An array of unique, radiant, playful women were met on stage by dominant, fit and curious men for a show that mesmerised and titillated.
A lot was going on throughout the performance. Wearing nothing but pink feathered boas, ladies danced to ‘Made You Look’, captivating every set of eyes in the audience. Two long knives disappeared down the throat of a beautiful woman. She bowed, gagged, then shrugged. The audience went fucking wild.
Our French host Daddy trotted around the audience with Tia-quila, who was dressed up as a lime. “Who needs loosening up?” she asked. Six rows back was soon-to-be-bride, Spring. Perfect. Plenty of leeway for a little innuendo... “Spring as in boing?”
There were six different costume changes with each set a whole new reality. Girls in pink leotards strummed pink electric guitars. The air smelt like sparklers after the table service bunnies skipped through. Men struck a balance between child and animal on a rope swing. One jumped into the audience and onto a lady’s lap. Her hands were left pointing to the sky in thanks after the interaction.
In the end, everyone was pretty relaxed and free the nipple was the norm. If there’s a baby boom nine months from now, we know why.
Forbidden – the show sure to reignite the spark inside all who attended.
