ABC Radio Broadcasting Live From Crown and Anchor
Jason Chong will host a three hour live show in the band room this Tuesday.
Tomorrow night ABC’s Jason Chong will broadcast live from the Crown and Anchor. The special three hour show comes two weeks after over 800 people sent applications to the State Commission Assessment Panel (SCAP) in protest of the potential redevelopment of the Cranker site.
The live show will be held in the band room from 7pm-10pm and feature guest interviews and live music. There will also be a pub quiz with fun prizes and entry, of course, is free.
The Crown and Anchor has been the talk of the town since it was revealed that Singaporean developer Wee Hur Holdings Ltd. had applied for planning permission to build student accommodation on the site of the historic hotel.
Since the news broke there has been a groundswell of support for the heritage-listed pub, with the ‘Save the Cranker’ campaign leading the charge. Since forming almost ten weeks ago, those involved with the campaign have lobbied for the Cranker’s future in the local parliament, organised a well-documented protest march with over 3,000 attendees and helped with assisting people complete their applications to SCAP that outline why the Cranker needs to be saved.
Incredibly, over 800 submission forms were delivered to SCAP, with the previous record being just 380. This is fantastic work from all those involved, especially as this turnaround for filling out and submitting the forms was completed in just six days.
While the campaign is now waiting to hear feedback from the SCAP regarding the submissions, there’s no better time to show your support than by getting down to the Cranker tomorrow for the live broadcast.
ABC Radio live on stage with Jason Chong kicks off tomorrow, Tuesday, May 28 in the Crown & Anchor band room from 7pm-10pm. You can keep up to date with the ‘Save the Cranker’ campaign here.
