The soulful R&B artist won triple j’s Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative in 2017.

Those with tickets to see UK singer-songwriter Mahalia are in for a treat after it was announced Aussie rising star Becca Hatch will be the support for her Australian tour.

Hatch first came to music fans’ attention in 2017 when she won triple j’s Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative. Since then the Sydney-born artist has slowly been building towards the release of her debut album, dropping a string of hot singles, including ‘Blessed’, ‘Ride for Me’ and this year’s drum and bass banger ‘Bass Keep Calling’.

Hatch has also collaborated with some big names in the Aussie music scene, including B Wise on ‘B the One’ and 2018 triple j Unearthed winner Kian on ‘All of Me’. And who can forget her epic cover of John Farnham’s ‘Burn for You’ for triple j’s Like a Version?

In a statement about her support slot, Hatch had this to say: “I’m so excited to be joining Mahalia on tour!!! I’ve been a massive fan of her since I was in high school. I literally have memories blasting ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ on my car speakers while singing along with my best friend. It’s not often you get the opportunity to support an international artist as incredible as Mahalia and I can’t wait. I’m feeling extremely grateful and excited to play all the new music I’ve been working on!”

Mahalia returns to Australia for the first time since performing at Laneway Festival in 2020 for her biggest tour yet. Mahalia’s whirlwind five-date tour sees the songstress hit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane over ten days this April and May.

The tour comes after a massive 2023 for the sultry singer-songwriter, with the ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ singer releasing her second album IRL, collaborating on single ‘Cheat’ with American superstar JoJo and playing sold-out shows in both the UK and Europe.
