It’s been five years since Cancer Bats last touched down in Australia. The Canadian trio, comprising vocalist Liam Cormier, drummer Mike Peters and bassist Jaye R. Schwarzer, is returning this June with an eight-date tour, kicking things at The Brightside in Brisbane on Thursday June 13. They then play shows in Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne before ending the tour at Jive in Adelaide on Friday June 21.

Cancer Bats is also playing two special shows in Melbourne and Syndey as their alter ego Bat Sabbath – the band’s Black Sabbath cover band. Expect a riotous showing from Bat Sabbath and a slew of non-Sabbath covers, including their popular 2010 take on Beastie Boys ‘Sabotage’.

Joining them on tour (besides the Bat Sabbath shows) is Sydney punk rockers FANGZ. The energetic quartet gained widespread popularity last year with their singles ‘Let’s Talk’ and ‘Fine Without You’, following on from their 2022 EP, Falling Is Pretty Easy.

Cancer Bats tour comes in support of the band’s 2022 album, Psychic Jailbreak. The album was critically acclaimed by music press worldwide and led to the band receiving their sixth JUNO Award nomination.

This tour will also be the band’s first in Australia without founding member Scott Middleton. The guitarist left in 2021 to pursue his own creative endeavours and spend more time with his family. Since then they have been joined by touring guitarist Jackson Landry.

Early bird pre-sale tickets for Cancer Bats’ Australian tour go on sale tomorrow, Thursday April 4 at 9:30am via Destroy All Lines. General sale tickets will be available on Friday April 5 at 9:30am here.
