The Aussie metal scene is thriving. If you need proof, check out Melbourne metalcore purveyors Lune. The quartet of vocalist Nathaniel Smith, guitarist Krys Smith, bassist David Freeland and drummer Harrison Mills is smashing it. They’ve grown a loyal fanbase off the back of several fantastic singles released during 2023 and received rave reviews for their recent live performances supporting Within Destruction and Thy Art Is Murder.

Described as Lune’s “most exciting and ambitious national headline tour ever,” the band’s seven-date trip across the country is one all local metal fans have been waiting for. Beginning in Adelaide on Friday May 24 at the Cranker, the band then plays a hometown show in Melbourne at Laundry Bar on Saturday May 25. It’s then on to Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on Thursday May 30, Newcastle Hotel in Newcastle on Friday May 31, Bootleggers in Sydney on Saturday June 1 and Abyss Bar in Canberra on Sunday June 2, before finishing things up in Perth at Lynotts Lunge on Saturday June 8.

Coming along for the ride are Perth’s self-proclaimed “metalcore underdogs” Patient Sixty-Seven and New Zealand’s cinematic rockers Written By Wolves.

Lune’s Australian tour is in support of their sophomore EP, The Change Around Us and The Change in You. Released in November of 2023, the six-track EP was described by Hysteria Mag as “a cathartic and caustic collection of songs from a band who continue to turn heads in the heavy music realms; and for good reason.” Good stuff.

Perth’s Patient Sixty-Seven has been slowly building a solid group of loyal fans off the back of their heavy yet melodic metal bangers. Vocalist Tom Kiely writes confronting songs about body dysmorphia, self-worth and mental instability that resonate with audiences who enjoy their metal with a bit of substance. With over 10 million streams and an average of 120,000 monthly streams, Patient Sixty-Seven is fast becoming one of Australia’s top metal bands.

Fans of Written by Wolves will be pumped at the chance to see the band on their first visit to Australia. The progressive rockers are riding high after the release of their 2024 album, Please Just Breathe. The seven-track record is another upbeat collection of tunes channelling modern progressive rock trends and classic metal riffs.

Tickets for Lune’s Adelaide show at the Crown & Anchor are on sale now via Oztix.
