BALKAN ACT DIVANHANA ANNOUNCE 2024 AUSTRALIAN TOUR
The six-piece are the music ambassadors for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnian sevdah band Divanhana is bringing their genre-bending tunes to Australia for the first time this May. Merging traditional Balkan music with jazz, classical and pop influences, the six-piece will perform six shows during their trip down under. Divanhana will take in Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney on their whirlwind tour.
The 2023 Songlines magazine Best World Music Group award winners are the music ambassadors for Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are dedicated to exploring the traditional music of their homeland through contemporary influences, creating a distinctive sound that carries through their songs.
Formed in 2009 by a group of students from the Music Academy in Sarajevo, Divanhana has gone on to release five studio albums and one live album. Their most recent release, 2022’s Zavrlama, was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact it had on the Bosnian people.
Divanhana has also been recognised for their work and influence in 2023, taking out the Best Artist of Bosnia and Herzegovina Award at the sixth edition of the Best of Rumeli event. Their 2023 album, Zavrlama, was also named as one of the top ten albums of that year by London’s prestigious Songlines magazine.
Tickets for Divanhana’s live show at Elder Conservatorium are on sale now via TryBooking.
