EX KAISER CHEFS, THE KOOKS, DEAD 60S & HOWLING BELLS MEMBERS FORM NEW BAND EVERYONE SAYS HI
Founded by former Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson, the band has just released it’s debut single, ‘Brain Freeze’.
Everyone Says Hi is the latest supergroup to emerge from the UK. Fronted by former members of Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks, Dead 60s and Howling Bells, the collective has just dropped their cracking debut single, ‘Brain Freeze’.
Fronted by former Kaiser Chiefs drummer and songwriter Nick Hodgson, the band takes its name from a 2002 David Bowie song.
Hodgson is joined by Pete Denton, formerly of The Kooks, Ben Gordon from The Dead 60s, Glenn Moule of Howling Bells and Leeds guitarist Tom Dawson.
Inking a deal with British label Chrysalis Records, Everyone Says Hi’s first single is a jazzy little indie number featuring a sax solo from The Zutons’ Abi Harding.
Speaking with NME about the track, Hodgson explained it’s about escaping to Ibiza to reflect and realign after a communication breakdown. “I love Ibiza as well, so it sounds like I’m dreaming of going to Ibiza and living there,” he said. “I’ve always dreamt of escaping in a camper van and I did go away on my own in a camper van. So maybe it’s got shades of camper van as well.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Hodgson discusses how the band came about, where the name came from and what it’s like writing songs with Dua Lipa.
