American punk act turned stadium rockers Green Day have finally announced their much anticipated Australian tour.

The global superstars – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool – will be performing three shows in Australia next March as part of their worldwide The Saviors Tour.

“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together,” the band said in a statement. “And we cannot wait to return to Australia; it’s been way too long. So, let’s thrash.”

Although the tour is in support of this year’s Saviors, the band will also be performing their iconic records Dookie (1994) and American Idiot (2004) in full in celebration of the album’s 30 and 20 year anniversaries.

Green Day’s tour is the first time the band have performed in Australia since 2017, with three massive stadium shows locked in. The Saviors Tour begins in Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Saturday, March 1 and continues in Sydney at Engie Stadium on Monday, March 3 before the final gig at Gold Coast’s CBUS Super Stadium on Wednesday, March 5.

The ‘Basket Case’ hitmakers won’t be doing it alone, bringing along good friends and fellow punk rockers AFI.
