It’s getting close to that time of year when Australia’s best musical talents are recognised for their achievements.
But before the awards are handed out the nominations must first be announced. This takes place on Thursday, September 26 at 9:30am local time. This year’s nominations are being streamed live on the ARIA website, with Nine’s entertainment reporter Renee Bargh on hosting duties.
The 2024 ARIA Awards feature 29 categories, including Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Australian Live Act, with the winners crowned on Wednesday, November 20.
The award ceremony will take place on Gadigal land at The Horden Pavilion and be broadcast live on Stan from 4:30am local time. Channel 9 will air a special recap of the event after the live stream has finished, which you will also be able to watch on the ARIA official YouTube channel.
Australia’s version of the Grammy Awards, the ARIAs have been held annually since 1987. Established by the six main record companies operating in Australia at that time – EMI, Festival Records, Sony Music (then known as CBS), BGM (then known as RCA), Warner Music (then known as WEA) and Universal (then known as PolyGram) – the ARIAs aim to highlight the cream of Australia’s music scene.
Some of the country’s biggest acts have taken home an ARIA gong, with John Farnham and Silverchair tied for the most wins with 21 each, while the ARIA Hall of Fame includes the likes of Cold Chisel, INXS, Kylie Minogue and Yothu Yindi.
Last year’s ARIA Awards were dominated by pop singer Troye Sivan (who claimed four wins) and Genesis Owusu (who won three awards), with two new categories also introduced – Best Use of an Australian Recording in an Advertisement and Best Use of an Australian Recording in an Advertisement.

The metalcore act will be supported by Silent Planet and Resolve.

Sydney guitar-pop duo Royel Otis took home a whopping four ARIA Awards while pop singer Troye Sivan scored three awards.
The tour marks The Wonder Years’ first trip Down Under in six years.
The five-time Grammy Award-winning band will be playing all the big hits from We Like It Here along with fan favourites.
The five track EP features the previously released singles ‘Feels Like a Start’, ‘Peaches and Wine’ and ‘Bloodshot Eyes’.
Next year’s event is held at Frome Park/Nellie Raminyemmerin Park and features London DJ Ben UFO, Melbourne’s Pretty Girl (performing a DJ set), passionate DJ and producer DAWS.
The UK rockers will be joined on tour by American pop punk act State Champs.
This is The Kooks’ biggest tour since their 2022 jaunt performing their debut album In/Inside Out in full.
