London-based electronic act JOY (Anonymous) are in town tomorrow night (Friday, January 10) for a very special charity gig at The Scenic Hotel (tickets on sale here).
Having recently finished a run of shows across the country, Henry Counsell and Louis Curran are making their way to Adelaide for the very first. The duo’s gig at The Scenic Hotel is in aid of not-for-profit organisation Topsoil Garden, with all proceeds from ticket sales going towards the charity.
For those unfamiliar with Topsoil Garden, the South Australian charitable organisation supports those who have suffered from or are suffering mental health issues and psychological disabilities via nature-based therapies.
As per their mission statement, Topsoil Garden want to revolutionise healthcare “by reconnecting individuals with nature and fostering a sense of community” that “aims to provide high-quality, innovative, and person-centred services.”
The Scenic Hotel is one such venue that supplies plots of land for Topsoil while also providing rooms in the hotel for psychologists and speech pathologists to conduct sessions. The hotel is also hoping to integrate participants who take part in the project into their business to help grow and serve food, tackling the issues surrounding the lack of food and employment for marginalised groups.
Local audiophiles InsideOut Audio are providing the best Funktion-One audio so JOY (Anonymous) can blast the tunes in The Scenic Hotel’s famously intimate outdoor beer garden.
As always, The Scenic Hotel will be offering the best cold beers, local wines and top-notch spirits to quench punter’s thirst, with the kitchen also open and serving classic pub grub alongside more refined fare.
This event is happening on the unceded land of the Kaurna People. Everyone involved acknowledges them and their ongoing connection to land, waters and culture, and pay our respects to elders past and present.
Tickets for JOY (Anonymous) at The Scenic Hotel this Friday, January 10 are on sale now via humanitix.com.
