Victoria’s Always Live festival returns in 2024 with another stacked lineup celebrating all things music across the Garden State.

Taking place over 17 days across November and December, events are held all across Victoria, including Melbourne, Gippsland, Ballarat, Geelong and Bendigo.

There will be a host of free and cheap events on offer, with more than 289 artists – 208 of which come from Victoria – performing in more than 65 venues across the state.

Billed as the “biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere”, Always Live’s most noteworthy act is arguably Jack White, who has locked in two gigs in December in collaboration with Frontier Touring. White will be performing an intimate gig at the Corner Hotel along with a show at Ballarat’s incredible Civic Hall.

Always Live has booked an exclusive show from genre-defying artist Anyma, who is best known as the first DJ to perform at Las Vegas’ Sphere. This will be the American DJ’s first-ever Australian trip, whose gig at Flemington Racecourse is set to be an audio and visual thrill ride.

Punk rock icons The Offspring are performing one show at the Forum Theatre while Australian great Tina Arena will take to Flemington Racecourse to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her smash album, ‘Don’t Ask’, with support from an incredible lineup of guest artists including Richard Marx, Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Cebrano, 1927 and Southern Sons.

Alt-singer-songwriter St. Vincent is playing two shows at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre and Ballarat’s newly refurbished, 149-year-old Her Majesty’s Theatre while Roisin Murphy, Rico Nasty, Bimini, Jaguar & The Big Wett Absolute XXXperiance and a bunch of awesome local artists will celebrate all things queer for one night at PICA.

Other notable events on the program include Missy Higgins celebrating the 20th anniversary of her seminal album, The Sound of White, at Sidney Myer Music Bowl alongside guests Dan Sultan and Mia Wray, Chet Faker performing his iconic album Built On Glass for one night only at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Emma Donovan and friends (Deline Briscoe, David Arden, Candice Lorrae and Jayden Lillyst) presenting an acoustic set at Ian Potter Centre and Baker Boy headlining BLAKTIVISM at Hamer Hall, a night commemorating First Nations music with a lineup featuring No Fixed Address’ Bart Willoughby, jazz singer Deline Briscoe, vocal trio Suga Cane Mamas and more.

In a statement, Matt Gudinski, Chair of Always Live, said of this year’s program: “This year’s Always Live program not only reinforces our status as the music capital of Australia but brings an extraordinary array of unique and exclusive experiences to audiences across the State.

“I am incredibly proud to be part of delivering this year’s program and continuing to build the legacy of ALWAYS LIVE. It’s a privilege to contribute to Victoria's rich music history and to support our live music sector.”

Always Live runs from November 22 to December 8 across Victoria. For the full lineup and ticket information visit alwayslive.com.au.
