Hard-Ons Announce New Album ‘I Like You A Lot Getting Older’
This is the band’s follow-up to last year’s, Ripper '23.
Australia’s favourite punk rockers the Hard-Ons have announced the release of their 15th album, I Like You A Lot Getting Older.
Set to drop October 4 via Cheersquad Records and Tapes (pre-order here), the album comes ahead of the Hard-Ons’ upcoming 40th anniversary Australian Tour.
The third album by the band’s current lineup, consisting of original members Ray Ahn (bass) and Peter ‘Blackie’ Black (guitar) and new recruits Murray Ruse (drums) and Tim Rogers (vocals), follows 2021s ARIA top five charting record I’m Sorry Sir, That Riff’s Been Taken and last year’s rocking Ripper ‘23.
I Like You A Lot Getting Older will be released on black vinyl, CD and all digital formats. Die-hard fans will be keen on grabbing a limited coloured vinyl edition, with clear vinyl with orange smoke (100 only), clear vinyl with blue smoke (100 only) and clear vinyl with pink smoke (100 only) available. The Hard-Ons are also selling a limited edition cassette (100 only) version of the album for analogue enthusiasts. If that’s not enough, there will also be an exclusive limited edition green vinyl pressing of the album (250 only) available via the album’s UK distributor Forte.
To give fans a taste of what to expect, the Hard-Ons released the energetic ‘Buzz Buzz Buzz’, the first single from I Like You A Lot Getting Older. In a statement about the Rogers and Black co-written tune, Blackie said: “Our best collaboration so far. When Tim said 'I wanna get a little left of centre with the melody on this,' I was BLOWN away (but not surprised).”

The Hard-Ons have been out there getting it done for an incredible 40 years, with the band renowned for their energetic live shows. While the band has gone through several lineup changes over the years, the current iteration of the band may be the best yet.
Along with the release of their new album, the Hard-Ons have been the subject of a documentary, The Most Australian Band Ever. Directed by Jonathan J. Sequeira, the doco takes a deep dive into the Hard-Ons’ legacy and includes archival footage, live concert snippets, interviews with the band and guest appearances from a wide range of personalities, including Dave Faulkner (The Victims, Hoodoo Gurus), Ross Knight (Cosmic Psychos), Rob Younger (Radio Birdman) and more. It’s set to premier at Sydney’s SXSW Festival on October 16.
Two days after the doco’s premier the Hard-Ons hit the road as part of their 40th Anniversary Australian Tour, playing 13 shows across the nation, including a performance at Froth & Fury Fest in Adelaide on Saturday, November 9.
