Five incredible artists have been chosen to perform at the Adelaide showcase next month.
Adelaide’s favourite festival WOMAdeliade and Northern Sound System (NSS) are coming together again for the WOMADelaide x NSS Academy showcase. The free event, taking place at NSS on Saturday, November 9, is a celebration of emerging new talent and Australia’s culturally diverse music scene
This years showcase features five incredible 2024 Academy artists – Burmese-Chinese vocalist Sandra Gan, Sri Lankan R&B songstress Meena De Silva, Nigerian Afrobeats rising star Bidem, soulful Tanzanian-born singer Shukurani and Eastern Arrernte rapper Bousta.
WOMADelaide x NSS Academy Project Coordinator, Bianca Nilsson says “I’m thrilled for this year’s Academy artists. It has been such a pleasure working with them for the past few months and I’m excited to see them take the stage at the Academy Showcase and show us what they’ve been working on this year.”
The WOMADelaide x NSS Academy has been running since 2020 and aims to develop talent and open career pathways for aspiring artists. Many of the acts who have taken part in the showcase have gone on to appear at WOMAdelaide over the journey.
