YOU ME AT SIX ANNOUNCE LAST EVER AUSTRALIAN TOUR
The UK alternative rockers are calling it quits after 20 years together, hitting the road for one final hurrah.
You Me At Six shocked fans earlier this year when they announced they were splitting up. Taking to social media, the band revealed: “2005-2025. This is the end. Thank you for being the heartbeat of this band. Final live shows taking place 2024/2025.”
Now the UK rockers have revealed the dates for their last Australian shows. The aptly titled ‘Final Australian Tour’ will take place in January of 2025, with You Me At Six performing in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Kicking off their final hurrah in Brisbane at The Tivoli on Friday, January 24, You Me At Six will continue their victory lap with gigs at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney on Sunday, January 26, The Forum in Melbourne on Monday, January 27, The Gov in Adelaide on Wednesday, January 29 and The Astor Theatre in Perth on Friday, January 31.
Support for the tour comes in the form of rising British rock quartet Holding Absence, who are riding high after the success of their third long player, The Noble Art of Self Destruction.
Consisting of original members Josh Franceschi (vocals), Max Helyer (rhythm guitar), Chris Miller (lead guitar), Matt Barnes (bass) and Dan Flint (drums), You Me At Six are choosing to go out at the top of their game.
Across their two-decade career, the band established themselves as one of Britain’s great modern rock bands, releasing eight studio albums, including UK Album Chart #1s Cavalier Youth and Suckapunch, playing some of the world’s biggest festivals and racking up hundreds of millions of streams.
“When we started YMAS we were kids. We only ever wanted to travel and to experience life as a group of friends,” Franceschi said in a statement about the band’s end and upcoming tour. “We feel like on the eve of our 20th anniversary as a band, now is a good time to call time. We’re in a fortunate position where our fans still want to see us live and come celebrate the life of this band. So that is what we will do for 2024 and 2025. We can’t wait to see our fans on the road.”
Fans can expect a two-hour career-spanning set featuring all the hits, fan favourites and deep cuts, including top tunes ‘Bite My Tongue’, ‘Take on the World’, ‘Underdog’, ‘Beautiful Way’, ‘Room To Breathe’.
“We’ve got a plan to play songs from every single album, and make it a real victory lap. And everyone feels like that,” says Franceschi. “We’ve looked at the setlists and gone, ‘Cool – those five can stay, the rest is going to be stuff we haven’t done for years. We want to have 50 songs ready to go so that each night we can constantly mix it up and make it special.”
