After acclaimed seasons in Sydney and Melbourne, Elvis: A Musical Revolution hits Adelaide at the end of the month. Running for four weeks from Wednesday April 3 to Sunday April 28 before heading to Perth, this musical extravaganza takes theatregoers on a journey through the life and times of the legendary Elvis Presley.

Beginning with his childhood in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis: A Musical Revolution uses the singer’s greatest hits to tell his life story, right up until his triumphant ’68 Comeback Special. The musical features over 40 of Elvis’ most well-known hits, including crackers such as ‘Hound Dog’, ‘A Little Less Conversation’, ‘Jailhouse Rock’, ‘All Shook Up’ and ‘Suspicious Minds’.

Taking on the imposing role of Elvis is television and theatre star Rob Mallett (Home and Away, Aladdin, Singin’ In The Rain), who is being praised for his performance. Joining Mallett on stage as Priscilla Presley is Adelaide’s own Annie Chiswell (Friends the Musical Parody, Shrek the Musical, High Country), who is excited about bringing the show to her hometown. “I love coming home to perform – there’s nothing like an Adelaide audience,” she said in a statement.

Other castmembers taking on important roles include Noni McCallum (Come From Away, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Muriel’s Wedding) as Elvis’ mother Gladys, Matt Heyward (The Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady) as Elvis’ dad Vernon Presley and Ian Stenlake (Sea Patrol, Stingers, Mamma Mia) as Elvis’ manager Colonel Parker.

Young Elvis is played by three talented kids, South Australians Nemanja Ilic (nine) and Harrison Thomas (13), alongside Perth’s Oscar Harrison (12).

So far Elvis: A Musical Revolution has been well received by audiences across the country. We couldn’t be happier about the response from audiences so far and look forward to celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley at Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre,” said producer David Venn.

“It’s a testament to the enduring legacy of The King, as well as our cast and creative team, that audiences can connect to the music of a generation which continues to have an undeniable cultural impact.”

Elvis: A Musical Revolution runs from Wednesday April 3 to Sunday April 28. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketek.
