Grease lightning strikes Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre this September.
Grab your varsity jacket and slick back your hair in preparation for an all-new production of Grease that’s hitting Her Majesty’s Theater this September. The hit musical first opened in Melbourne earlier this year to rave reviews, with Broadway World claiming “this revival of Grease is close to perfection.” Currently showing in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre, the production then moves to Perth before finally making its way to Adelaide.
Directed by Luke Joslin (Les Miserable, Guys and Dolls, Shrek the Musical) with choreography by Eric Giancola, this most recent production of Grease features an all-new set, dazzling costumes and all the classic songs made famous by the 1978 movie adaptation. Expect to hear your favourite songs such as ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Sandy’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’, ‘You’re The One That I Want’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘Grease is the Word’ and more.
Rising Aussie stage stars Joseph Spanti and Annelise Hall will take on the roles of Danny and Sandy alongside an all-star cast that includes the legendary Patti Newton as spinster English teacher Miss Lynch, former Play School host Jay Laga’aia as radio announce Vince Fontaine and the incomparable Marcia Hines as Teen Angel, who sings the iconic ‘Beauty School Dropout’.
Ever since its Broadway debut in 1972 and subsequent 1978 film adaption starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Grease has become one of the most successful musicals in history. The Tony-nominated stage show has toured the globe multiple times over the past 50 years and this latest performance is shaping up as the best yet.
Delving into 50s culture, teen rebellion and the angst and heartbreak that comes with young love, Grease The Musical promises an electrifying night of incredible sets, legendary songs and breakthrough performances.
