BEN OTTEWELL & IAN BALL FROM GOMEZ ANNOUNCE ‘BRING IT ON’ & ‘LIQUID SKIN’ 25TH ANNIVERSARY AUSTRALIAN TOUR
The co-founders and co-lead vocalists will be playing tracks from their 1998 album ‘Bring It On’ and 1999 record ‘Liquid Skin’.
Another day, another album anniversary tour. This time it’s two records being celebrated, with Gomez co-founders and co-vocalists Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball heading our way to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 1998’s Bring It On and 1999’s Liquid Skin.
The British indie rockers have a fondness for Australia, having only just toured the country last year for a run of highly successful shows.
The duo of Ottewell and Ball will be joined by regularly touring partner Buddy, who will also act as their support on the 11-date tour.
The series of gigs begins in Fremantle on Thursday, October 31, with the two then heading to Meeniyan, Castlemaine, Lorne, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane, Eltham, Murwillumbah, Adelaide and finally Sydney.
Gomez was one of the premier indie acts to emerge from the Brit-pop movement of the late 90s. Their debut album, Bring It On, was released in 1998 and became a surprise hit, reaching #11 on the UK Album Chart. Critically acclaimed by music press across the globe, the album spawned fan favourites ‘Get Myself Arrested’ and ‘Whippin’ Piccadilly’.
Just under 18 months later they followed up with Liquid Skin, their highest charting album. As well as reaching the #2 spot on the UK Album Chart, the 11-track record cracked the top ten on the ARIA Charts and is certified platinum in Australia.
Although it’s been almost 15 years since Gomez released an album, both Ottewell and Ball have continued to tour solo and together, playing selected Gomez songs along with their material.
Pre-sale tickets are currently available via lovepolice.com with the code tijuana. General tickets go on sale this Friday, April 19 at 8:30am local time.
