CHILDISH GAMBINO ANNOUNCES AUSTRALIAN LEG OF ‘NEW WORLD TOUR’

The rapper alias of Donald Glover is hitting the road for one final hurrah.

Childish Gambino is heading our way as part of his ‘New World Tour’ in 2025. The alias of the multi-talented Donald Glover is playing four huge shows next February, with the tour announcement coinciding with the release of ATAVISTA, a reworked version of his 2020 album, 3.15.20.

This is Childish Gambino’s first visit to Australian shores since 2019 when he was part of the Splendour in the Grass lineup. He will play shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, so Adelaide fans will have to travel for the chance to see the ‘This Is America’ rapper in the flesh.

The first show commences in Brisbane at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday, February 1 before Gambino hits Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on Tuesday, February 4, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Friday, February 7 and Perth’s RAC Arena on Tuesday, February 11.

Coming along for the ride is rising Ghanaian-American pop superstar Amaarae, who will be performing in Australia for the first time.

This tour could be the last chance fans get to see Childish Gambino perform live, with the actor, writer, director, comedian and all-around good guy confirming a few months back that he planned to retire his rapper alias. In an interview with GILGA Radio livestream on Instagram, he said “The project I put out, 3.15.20 that no one’s ever heard of, people didn’t even know I put it out, it was originally titled Atavista, it was supposed to be Atavista. But we put it out quickly, I didn’t master or mix it, I just kind of put it out. I was going through a lot, n—s thought everybody was going to die because it was the pandemic. We put it out, we finished it, it’s Atavista, we’re putting that out. But then after that, there’s a Childish Gambino album, the final Childish Gambino album.”

The final Childish Gambino album Bando Storm and the New World is a soundtrack to the film of the same name he will be directing. It’s expected to be released later this year.

Tickets go on sale Monday, May 20 but before then there are three pre-sale options. The first is for American Express customers who have a chance to grab tickets on Thursday, May 16. Those signed up to Gambino’s mailing list can also grab tickets that same day. The final pre-sale is via Frontier Touring and starts this Friday, May 17. For the full ticketing details head here.
