Childish Gambino Postpones American Tour But Australian Shows Still Going Ahead
The rapper and singer took to X to reveal he needs to take time away to focus on his physical health.
Childish Gambino has postponed his North American tour citing the need to focus on his ‘physical health’.
The American artist took to X to share the news, releasing this statement: “Hey everyone. Unfortunately I have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks.
“Hold onto your tickets. ALL tickets will be honoured for the upcoming dates in North America when they are rescheduled. Thanks for the privacy. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love.”
The news comes just two weeks into Childish Gambino’s final New World Tour. Kicking off in Oklahoma City last month, Gambino cancelled a gig in Connecticut last week before postponing his Houston show due to illness on Monday night (September 9). In total, 16 dates have been postponed while Gambino concentrates on his health.
There has been no talk of Childish Gambino cancelling his Australian leg of the tour, so fans shouldn't be too concerned about the ‘Redbone’ hitmaker not fulfilling his advertised dates.
Making his first Australian visit since 2019, Gambino is playing stadium shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
The first show commences in Brisbane at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Saturday, February 1 before Gambino hits Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena for concerts on Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5, and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena for another two gigs on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8, before a final performance at Perth’s RAC Arena on Tuesday, February 11.
Coming along for the ride is rising Ghanaian-American pop superstar Amaarae, who will be performing in Australia for the first time.
Limited tickets for Childish Gambino’s The New World Tour are still available via Frontier Touring.
