Melbourne trio Glass Beams have been the talk of the town since the release of their latest EP, Mahal. Dropping just a few weeks back via independent record label Ninja Tune, the EP is going great guns, with the titular single having amassed over 6 million streams and racked up over 3 million views on YouTube.

After selling out shows across Europe and North America, Glass Beams returns to Australian shores for a run of shows this June. They begin their tour in Brisbane at Felons Barrel Hall (Seasonal Fruit) on Sunday June 16 before hitting Factory Theatre in Sydney on Friday June 21, Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide on Saturday June 22, 170 Russell in Melbourne on Friday June 28 and The Rechabite in Perth on June 29.

The mysterious masked collective merges traditional Eastern musical influences with modern Western pop sounds, crafting mind-altering instrumentals that pull you into their hypnotic world. In a statement about Glass Beams’ sound, founder and musician/producer Rajan Silva had this to say:

“My father was born in India and moved here when he was 17, and in searching for new energy and inspiration to write music, I dug around for music from my father’s hometown and surrounding areas. I found a wealth of Indian classical, 70’s disco and pop music that formed the building blocks for this record. As soon as I had that vision of what I wanted to write and why I wanted to write it, the songs just flowed out really."

Currently touring overseas, Glass Beams has sold out shows in London, Chicago, San Francisco and Boston ahead of their return to Australia. Their meteoric rise since the release of 2021 EP, Mirage, means tickets for their five-date tour are sure to sell quickly.

Tickets for Glass Beams Australian tour go on sale this Friday April 5 via Handsome Tours.
