After delighting fans at this year’s WOMADelaide with her amazing live shows with Melbourne-based Māori cultural performance group T’HONI, Jen Cloher has announced a string of Australian solo shows.

Taking place during June and July, Cloher will play seven shows in regional areas of Port Kembla, Mullumbimby, Hepburn Springs and Meeniyan, along with capital cities Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Taking to Instagram to announce the shows, Cloher commented: “Plenty of seating, accessible and not too late! Just what all of us 👵🏼 young and old want on a night out. Am I right?”

Cloher is one of Australia’s great modern songwriters, with her latest album, 2023’s I Am the River, the River Is Me, an astonishing piece of work that finds Cloher singing in both English and te reo Māori.

In her review of the album for The Sydney Morning Herald, journalist Giselle Au-Nhien Nguyen said “Sonically, the record leans into a folksy palette that brings to mind Cloher's earlier work" saying, I Am the River, the River Is Me reads like a love letter to many things: heritage, queerness, oneself. Cloher is one of Australia's finest songwriters, one who takes time between releases and produces music that is in equal parts contemplative and joyful. This is a special record that pays tribute to the past and the future, blending the personal and the political and showing that everything is interconnected"

Anyone lucky enough to have seen Cloher at WOMADeliade can attest to how mesmerising she is in the live arena, making her Adelaide show one not to miss.
