After selling out three of their four upcoming shows, Adelaide legends The Beards have announced extra dates in Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Having entertained audiences with their first gig in a decade at this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest, The Beards have locked in headline shows across the country in August and September.

Expect to hear all the band’s classic tunes, including personal favourites ‘No Beard No Good’, ‘You Should Consider Having Sex with a Bearded Man’ and ‘If Your Dad Doesn't Have a Beard You've Got Two Mums’.

The Beards’ upcoming national tour kicks off in Brisbane with two shows at The Triffid on Thursday, August 28 and Friday, August 29 (sold out). They then perform at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Saturday, August 30, followed by two gigs at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Thursday, September 4 and Friday, September 5 (sold out). The Beards wrap things up with dual hometown shows on Saturday, September 6 (sold out) and Sunday, September 7.

Comprising bass keytarist and vocalist Tom Bettany (aka Tom Rockchild), drummer Michael Bidstrup (aka Bam Bam Bidstrup), guitarist Joshua Fielder (aka J-Wah!) and keyboardist and vocalist Joel McMillan (aka Late Joel Milkowski or One Hundred Dollars), The Beards are one of the country’s most beloved acts.

Formed in 2025, the quartet released four studio albums – The Beards (2007), Beards, Beards, Beards (2010), Having a Beard is the New Not Having a Beard (2012) and The Beard Album (2014) – before calling it quits in 2016.

Speaking on the tour, The Beards frontman Beardraven says, “We felt that after writing sixty-three original songs about beards and becoming the most important beard-related band on the planet, we’d said all we had to say on the subject. We figured it was time for us to take a well-earned break and focus on resting on our laurels.

“But it turns out that over the intervening years, our views on beards have only become more intense, rigid, and dogmatic. Hopefully, a small run of gigs in the four closest capital cities to where we currently reside will be enough for us to finally fully articulate just how much we enjoy having beards.”
