When Splendour in the Grass was cancelled earlier this year, everyone in South Australia thought that was the end of Spin Off Festival. But like the phoenix rising from the ashes, the festival is back stronger next month with a super cool lineup of talented local and international artists.

Held at the Adelaide Showground on July 19, the event has a great mix of artists and DJs, with Norwegian singer-songwriter girl in red, Australia’s own G Flip and rising American pop superstar Conan Gray the festival’s three big headliners.

Spin Off 2024 also features the Sound Archive Stage, a dedicated electronic and dance stage presented by Divide with a curated lineup of electro-goodness that will have you shaking your thang all night.

If you’re still undecided about buying a ticket or are unsure about the lineup, we want to settle your nerves with this look at six acts that you don’t want to miss out on seeing. FOMO is no fun at all so make sure you grab your Spin Off ticket and check out these awesome artists!

The Last Dinner Pary

Seemingly coming from nowhere, UK pop rock act The Last Dinner Party have taken the world by storm over the past 12 months.

Not only did they win the Rising Star gong at the Brit Awards and the BBC Sound of 2024 poll, but their debut studio album, Prelude to Ecstady, went straight to the top of the UK charts.

Forming in 2021, the quintet comprises Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass) and Aurora Nishevci (keyboards, vocals). Surprisingly they have no permanent drummer, with Rebekah Rayner currently behind the kit as their touring beatkeeper.

Last Dinner Party is a captivating amalgamation of indie rock and baroque pop that doesn’t follow any Spotify algorithm, making them truly unique in a world where so many bands sound the same.

Rum Jungle

While Spin Off 2024 has some great international acts, the locals are also doing their bit to make it a fantastic day of music. Newcastle’s Rum Jungle are one of the Australian contingent leading the charge we need to mention.

It’s hard not to be taken in by the chill vibe of Rum Jungle’s smooth tunes. The laidback four-piece makes music that goes well with a cold froth or tightly rolled joint, one of which you can enjoy while watching them at Spin Off this year.

Peach PRC

Adelaide’s Peach PRC has blown up over the past few years. Initially finding fame on TikTok where she posts content about her everyday life, receiving praise for opening up about her struggles with mental health and addiction, Peach PRC is now a fully-fledged recording artist with a growing fanbase.

The former exotic dancer – whose name pays homage to the video game character Princess Peach – released several songs on TikTok before signing with Island Records in 2021 and dropping her first major label single, ‘Josh’.

It’s been nothing but full steam ahead since then, with the bubblegum pop princess accumulating over 2.2 million followers on TikTok and her debut album, Manic Dream Pixie, hitting the top of the ARIA Chart and receiving praise from critics across the globe.

Rona.

Mparntwe and Naarm-based producer, artist and DJ RONA. makes music you can’t help but move to. There’s a vitality to her industrial dance floor wreckers that course through your body like electricity.

Having performed alongside the likes of Four Tet, Bradley Zero and Jon Talabot and played major Aussie festivals such as Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival and Strawberry Fields, RONA. has established herself as one of the country’s rising electronic artists.

Her debut EP, Closure, won widespread acclaim and led to RONA. scoring a spot as triple j’s November Residetn in 2023. Taking to the Sound Archive Stage at this year’s Spin Off Festival, fans can expect to groove the night away as RONA. takes revellers on a journey through a world of technicolour beats and euphoric productions.

girl in red

The Nordic region might be cold and dark, but it produces some of the warmest and most expressive musicians. Case in point Norwegian singer-songwriter girl in red.

The moniker of Marie Ringheim, girl in red is a bedroom producer with a knack for writing pleasing indie ditties that have seen her win three Norwegian Grammy Awards.

girl in red arrives Down Under just a few months after releasing her second album and first with a major label, I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY! A tightly produced collection of songs that’s been well-received, the album is a refreshing take on modern indie pop and includes the singles ‘Too Much’ and ‘You Need Me Now?’, with the latter featuring Sabrina Carpenter.

Conan Gray

Conan Gray might not be a name you’re all that familiar with unless you’re under the age of 21, but that’s all about to change when the striking singer-songwriter graces the Spin Off stage.

Arguably one of America’s biggest pop stars to emerge in recent years, the charming vocalist and multi-instrumentalist is riding high after the success of his third studio album, Found Heaven.

Possessed with a voice most can only dream of, Gray started his career by uploading videos of him singing to YouTube at age 15. He’s quickly become a huge star, racking up tens of millions of streams and selling out shows across the US.

Now heading to Adelaide for the first time, music fans should be excited at the chance to see Gray perform live.
