How good is this? Homegrown talent aleksiah has been added to Barcelona’s Primavera Sound 2025 program!
Founded in 2001, Primavera Sound has established itself as one of Europe’s top-tier festivals and is known for continually delivering incredible lineups. Take this year’s event which is headlined by Grammy-winning queens Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter, and also features a stacked bill of artists including LCD Soundsystem, Fontaines D.C., FKA Twigs and Jamie xx.
Emerging singer-songwriter aleksiah will perform in Europe for the very first time as part of the festival’s Primavera Pro – a series of 22 free concerts held across three days in the leadup to Primavera Sound at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. She will share the stage with a wide range of artists from across the world, including the likes of Peter Doherty, Nilüfer Yanya, Beach House and more.
The talented artist behind fan favourites ‘Fern’, ‘25’ and ‘Batsh*t’ follows in the footsteps of fellow South Aussie’s DEM MOB, with the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara hip hop trio having wowed Spanish audiences when they performed as part of Primavera Pro in 2023.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, aleksiah posted: “SPAIN!!! 🇪🇸 this is crazy im playing my first ever int festival in the lovely city of barcelona at @primaverapro on June 6th!! its a free event if u rsvp 💘 for my eu besties ill see u super soon!! might even add some other dates while im up north 🤭 what countries should i hit up? lmk in the comments and ill make it happen.”

aleksiah’s addition to the festival is well deserved and comes after a breakout 2024 that saw the indie-pop starlet release the energetic single ‘Batsh*t’, tour the country in support of her EP, You’re Never Getting Rid of Me, and take out three awards at the 2024 South Australian Music Awards for Best New Artist, Best Solo Artist and Most Popular Pop Art. aleksiah also won the APRA AMCOS Emily Burrows Award and $5,000 in prize money, which will no doubt be put to good use funding her Spanish jaunt.
aleksiah’s selection continues the wonderful working relationship that has been fostered between the Adelaide City of Music and Primavera Pro. In 2023, Primavera Pro director Elena Barreras was invited to Adelaide, leading to DEM MOB and the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM) being selected to perform and present at Primavera Pro.
Now under the wing of Australian artist management company Chugg Music (Lime Cordiale, Teenage Dads) and leading talent agency Select Music (Amy Shark, Stella Donnelly), aleksiah has the world at her feet, with her appearance at Primavera Pro just the beginning for this likeable Adelaide lass.
aleksiah plays at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona as part of Primavera Pro on June 6. Keep up to date with all things aleksiah here.
