The iconic public house is celebrating its 171st birthday next month.

The good news surrounding the Crown and Anchor continues, with the iconic pub announcing a special birthday celebration.
Turning 171 years young, the Cranker Bday Extravaganza takes place on Saturday, September 7, coinciding with the pub being inducted into the MusicSA Hall of Fame.
A message from the Cranker crew about the celebration reads: “Whilst a good time is always at the top of the Cranker’s to-do list, with everything that’s been going on lately we figure right now it’s more important than ever. So in that spirit, please come help us celebrate the pub’s 171st birthday!
“We’ve assembled a killer lineup of local mates with free entry all day, so come raise a glass to loud music, cold beer and friendship- VIVA CRANKER!”
Speaking of the lineup, the Cranker has gone above and. beyond, recruiting a diverse range of awesome local acts, with something for everyone. Indie trio Molly Rocket, gifted singer-songwriter Ricky Albeck and the Belair Line Band, punk rock quartet Oscar the Wild, hardcore dynamos Stabbitha & the Knifey Wifeys and desert rock mainstays Kitchen Witch are all performing on the day.
Also taking to the Cranker’s famous stage are the ‘femme patriarchy smashing rock band’ The Vains, hardcore five-piece Chapel Hill, doom purveyors Rocky’s Pride & Joy, post-punkers Dark Daze, pub folk lovers Bridget Fahey & the Bone Rattlers, loveable larrikins King Jeff & the How Are Yous and psych rock act Thunder Speaks.
DJ Nazz will be spinning tunes throughout the night while Rockin’ Rob Riley from Rose Tattoo will also be making a special appearance.
This is one birthday party you don’t want to miss!
