‘Changes’ is another shimmering slice of electronica from the Aussie duo.
Empire of the Sun is back in a big way with the release of shimmering single ‘Changes’, the band’s first taste of new music in eight years. The electronic duo of Emperor Steele (Luke Steele) and Lord Littlemore (Nick Littlemore) is believed to be working on their fourth album, with the slinky feel-good vibe of ‘Changes’ continuing Empire of the Sun’s musical evolution.
According to Littlemore, the song “represents the shifting sands of time, empires rise and fall but the sun shall shine on. Come once more into the world we’ve created, delve deeper within and be rewarded with its ever-expanding story, each and every one is invited to explore the new era.”
Bandmate Steele adds that it “was a breakthrough track for us. It felt like the moment of clarity when it became evident we were in the new era, our time of rebirth, the next chapter of Empire.”
Along with the single, Empire of the Sun has dropped a music video directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Maxxis. Shot in Thailand, the music video shows our intergalactic heroes arriving on Earth, with a comment posted by the band proclaiming, “In a world where inter-dimensional travel collides w/ reality, the forces have brought us back to you dear Empyreans, to ignite a new era of sound & vision. Tune in to Empire TV & all will be revealed...”
First finding success in 2008 with the single ‘Walking on a Dream’, Empire of the Sun has collected a massive following and performed across the globe to millions of fans. With over 7.6 billion streams on Spotify, three ARIA top ten charting albums (2008s Walking On A Dream, 2013s Ice On The Dune and 2016s Two Vines) and an incredible eight ARIA Awards, Empire of the Sun is one of Australia’s most accomplished acts. And we can’t wait to see what they have planned for the rest of 2024.
