Get ready for a night of sludge metal classics!
Sludge metal legends EYEHATEGOD are heading Down Under this July for a five date tour as part of their ‘Turn Troubled Tables Tour’. Coming along for the ride is thrash metal favourites Goatwhore, whose most recent release was 2022’s Angels Hung from the Arches of Heaven.
The tour takes in five capital cities, starting in Perth at Amplifier Bar on Tuesday, July 23, and continuing in Adelaide at Lion Arts Factory on Friday, July 24, Melbourne at Max Watts on Saturday, July 26 and Sydney at Crowbar on Sunday, July 27, before ending in Brisbane at The Zoo on Monday, July 28.
EYEHATEGOD got their start in the 80s and have gone on to become pillars of the New Orleans metal community. Known for their chaotic recording sessions and thrilling live performances, the quartet count Black Flag, The Melvins and Black Sabbath as inspirations. The band’s unique yet familiar mash of influences has established them as a cornerstone of the sludge metal genre with a worldwide fanbase.
The ‘Turn Troubled Tables Tour’ comes off the back of the band’s 2021 release, A History of Nomadic Behavior. Another riff-pummelling album described as “a blowtorch-distortion and blues-saturated combination of songs,” the record is tied together by Mike Williams' misanthropic lyrics and shredding scream.
Support act Goatwhore has been out there getting it down for over 25 years, entertaining heavy metal fans with their trademark blend of death, black, thrash and sludge metal. Similar to EYEHATEGOD, they are beasts when performing live and make for suitable touring mates for what is sure to be a grinding night of metal madness when the bands hit Adelaide this July.
Tickets for EYEHATEGOD’s Adelaide show at Lion Arts Factory are on sale now via Moshtix.
