Gordy Boy Records have planned something extra special for this year’s Record Store Day.
Taking over Adelaide Arcade’s underground tea rooms on Saturday, April 12, Gordy Boy Records are filling the space with stacks of new and preloved records music lovers can dig through from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Gordy Boy Records owner Ed Rooney and The City Record Club will provide the tunes from 8:00am to 1:00pm, delivering a range of background beats, with local punk rockers The Public Servants performing a stripped-back set from 1:00pm to 2:00pm.
Tickets to see The Public Servants, who write hilarious songs about, you guessed it, life as a public servant, are limited to 25 guests who are members of Gordy Boy Records.
Speaking about the annual event, Rooney says he believes RSD is about the music fans who give back by purchasing records and supporting local small businesses.
“The smiles I see when someone finds the record they’re after makes days like RSD so worthwhile,” says Ed. “It’s such an awesome celebration when people from all walks of life are brought together by good records and that same passion to find something they really enjoy.”
Adelaide Arcade General Manager, Andrew Jonats, adds, “Opened in December 2023, Gordy Boy Records has brought vinyl to the arcade as music lovers continue to embrace the retro format.”
Gordy Boy Records RSD celebrations take place Saturday, April 12 from 8:00am to 5:00pm in Gay’s Arcade, and the Adelaide Arcade underground tea rooms.
